Combining Psychodynamic therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and FAP (functional analytical psychotherapy) for calm, healthy minds.

M I S S I O N S T A T E M E N T

Therapy is constantly evolving and moving with the times - and rightly so. My mission as your therapist is to teach you how to become your own therapist. After all, who understands our minds better than ourselves? What works for one person won’t necessarily work for another, and my therapeutic practice understands that. Through a variety of different techniques and tools, you will learn how to manage your mental health and take back the control. Whether it is a phobia that is ruling your life or anxiety has just taken the upper hand, the ways in which we handle these issues is key. Working collaboratively with trust and a goal, together we can make the changes that need to happen in order to live a calm, stress free life.

“Change your thoughts and you change your world”

Norman Vincent Peale

A B O U T M E

Anxiety and stress are now, more than ever, a huge part of our lives. Two states in which one can exacerbate the other sometimes without any clear definition of what came first. Much like the chicken and egg analogy, anxiety can lead to stress, and stress can lead to anxiety. As a therapist I see many different causes of stress and anxiety, predominately brought on because of the world we now inhabit. The fast paced, high technology and easy access of life in general means there is little down time.

I know the feelings of anxiety first hand. I have suffered with severe panic attacks and know just how hard it is to get yourself to a place of calm, a place where the anxiety isn’t constantly shadowing your every move. Learning and accepting that it is ok to live like this is not ok, but through therapy and the techniques I use, we can work together to change this. The biggest word any therapist could have given me when I was in turmoil was “hope”. Hope to not just get through another day, but hope to really survive and thrive. To really live and enjoy every aspect of this crazy journey we call life.

And that is what I can do as your therapist, offer you hope. Teach you mechanisms to manage your emotions, tools to be able to fight back. Through a mixture of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy, you will have the ability to become your own therapist. To recognise when you need to slow down, and to employ strategies that mean your mental health is as easy to manage day to day as putting one foot in front of the other.

I am also able to adapt my practice in order to work with children and their parents. Anxiety is prevalent regardless of age, gender or circumstance. By working with both the parent and the child, the results are often much quicker and solely solution focused. Hypnotherapy is particularly powerful with children and change can be seen rapidly.

HOW I WORK

When it comes to therapy, one size definitely does not fit all and so every therapy session I undertake is personal, no two sessions will ever be the same. My background in psychodynamic counselling means I can explore past issues and go over anything significant that might be holding you back. My training in cognitive behaviorial hypnotherapy means I can link the two types of therapy, treating and resolving current issues through a mixture of talking, hypnosis and cognitive behavioural strategies, whether that is a phobia that has taken over or a lingering anxiety that is causing problems. I always work with clients finding the most appropriate way to treat basing the therapy on solution focused results. However, my goal as your therapist is to provide you with hope. Hope to bring about the changes necessary to lead happy, healthy fulfilling lives.
